Memory and Agent configuration

You can ask an Agent to retain work context, subject to its tools and organization policy. The only workspace file currently editable directly in the Portal is SOUL.md. There are no Portal controls to enable, disable, or directly edit memory, AGENTS.md, or TOOLS.md. Follow workspace files.

Memory

CapabilityBehaviorConditions
SearchFind relevant past records by meaning and keywordsRuntime memory tools and workspace policy must allow it
ReadRead needed portions of matching filesSearch first and minimize the read scope
StoreKeep long-term preferences, decisions, and contextNever store secrets in ordinary memory
Session summaryMay write recent context to daily memory on a new session or resetNot a separately configurable or executable Portal feature

Memory is managed workspace information, not hidden model state. Specify both what to retain and what to delete. Use dedicated secret inputs for credentials.

Identity and workspace

SettingEffectBoundary
IdentityName, avatar, introductionFollow organization identity policy
WorkspaceFiles and instructionsKeep separate from other Agents and tenants
Bootstrap documentsInitial instructions, persona, and user contextLong content can be truncated
System promptBasic behavior and boundariesA complete override can replace safety instructions and requires administrator review
Timezone and formatDefault time presentationSpecify the user or organization timezone

See the workspace guide for reading and management boundaries. Portal-editable files differ from first-boot files.

Sessions and subagents

The runtime can create sessions and run subagents. Concurrency, depth, model, timeout, and result notifications follow runtime policy, with no per-user Portal configuration screen. Viewing or messaging other Agents' sessions is also not a separate self-service setting equivalent to ordinary Chat Rooms.

High-impact tools

Specify targets, changes, allowed paths, and external transfers. Written instructions do not automatically enforce approvals or access limits. Follow organization permissions and data policies and verify actual changes and results.
