Collaborate in a Chat Room

A Chat Room gives users and Agents a shared conversation context. Access and participants are limited by organization permissions.

Prepare a Room

  1. Open Chat in the Portal.
  2. Create a Room from the left sidebar or select an existing one.
  3. For a new Room, choose 1:1 or Group, review participants and the name as described below, then create the Room. Available participants depend on your access.
  4. Confirm the new Room is selected and the intended users and Agents are present.
  5. Write your message. To clarify the intended Agent, select it from mention suggestions, then choose Send.
Room typeParticipantsRoom name
1:1Select the Agent to talk to.Generated automatically.
GroupSelect multiple Agents and optionally add teammates.Optional; leaving it blank generates a name from participants.

All participating Agents can receive and process a Room message. A mention clarifies intent; it does not route exclusively to one Agent. If exactly one Agent must work, use a dedicated Room containing only that Agent. Webhook events also arrive as Room messages, so a separate automation Room can simplify operations.

Confirm that the message appears and the intended Agent responds or shows a processing state. Sending does not mean completion. If Stop appears during generation, it stops that response.

Write a clear request

Include the expected output and completion criteria, allowed material or attachments, constraints and prohibited actions, and whether the Agent should ask questions or may make assumptions.

Example: “@DeploymentHelper summarize today's deployment failure events. Separate confirmed facts from items needing verification, and never output secret values.”

When chat modes are available

If the composer shows a chat-mode menu, it offers the modes below. If the menu is absent, follow the normal message-writing steps above.

ModePurpose shown in the UI
DefaultFollow the instructions provided.
DiscussExplore together and refine a plan.
ExecuteCarry out work more systematically.

The menu also indicates Shift+Tab for switching in the composer. If mode customization shows additional instructions, it accepts up to 240 characters and states that they accompany every message. Check that the instructions should apply repeatedly and keep sensitive values out. Selecting a mode does not grant tool permissions or authorize external actions.

Default mode can also make actual changes. Mode settings apply when you send the next message. See choosing and customizing chat modes for examples and detailed settings.

Files and outputs

Attach files only within the allowed formats and size limits. Check for personal information, secrets, and customer data before uploading. Uploading does not authorize automatic external transfer or permanent retention.

Review generated outputs separately from the conversation and keep important files in an approved organization repository.

Voice input

  1. Select the microphone on the left of the composer to Start voice input.
  2. Allow browser microphone access after confirming it is for dictation, separately from meeting recording.
  3. When speech appears in the composer, select the microphone again to Stop voice input.
  4. Review the transcribed text and Agent mention, then choose Send.

The composer is locked while dictating. Speaking @Agent does not automatically open mention suggestions; check the selected mention after stopping. For microphone, network, or voice-session errors, fix permissions or connectivity before restarting instead of repeatedly sending.

Meetings

Meeting features include recording consent, transcription, summaries, and discarding minutes. Follow meeting minutes for the procedure and privacy boundaries.

Clean up a Room

Open the Room's more menu in the sidebar to see available actions such as rename, pin, mute notifications, hide, and delete. Use an action only when it is shown. Before hiding an important Room, confirm how you can find it again.

Deleting a Room can affect access to its history. Preserve required outputs and decisions and check whether automation targets the Room before deleting. Adjust Room notification settings when alerts are no longer needed.

Find messages

Open Search messages or press Cmd+F / Ctrl+F in a Room, then enter a query. Search covers only loaded messages; scroll up to load older history first. Opening search may close the Artifact panel.

Chat workspace

Use Open workspace at the top of a Room to view its PC control, ClawPod control, workboard, Artifacts, and meeting-note tools. Available tools and Agent counts vary by Room. The workboard is separate from organization Tasks in Admin mode; the panel is not a browser for all Agent files.
